Linked Fields can now be set to pull in data up until the start or end of the current entry (e.g., the event being entered)

Linked fields are set to pull through from one Event Form to another Event form, and previously they could only be set to pull in information on a day basis, such as from the start or end of the current day.

However, if you were entering in multiple entries throughout the same day, and you needed to pull in a separate linked field for each entry, the link could be inaccurate as the cut off is the end of the current day, not the time of entry of the event. The ability to link a field and have the start or the end time of the current entry limit was is pulled through has recently been developed. See the steps below for more on how this change can improve your linking workflows:

The Training Sessions Form is entered multiple times per day

Each Training Sessions entry triggers a smartflow and Session Load is pulled into each smartflow target form (the Training Sessions Review form)

Ensure you are familiar with the different Linked Update Ranges, as setting them incorrectly will have a significant impact on what data is pulled through.

For example if a new Training Sessions entry is entered at 5:00 am AND the Training Session Review is entered via smartflow for 5:00 am, the linked fields will pull through from the Training Session form into this entry

The date entered prior to 6:00 am pulls through.

N.B. If we change only the end time (the "to" time) of the Linked Form (e.g., the Training Sessions Form), this has no impact on the Linked Form (e.g., the Training Sessions Review Form), as it references the start time of the linking entry (e.g. the "from" time in the Training Sessions Form).

Linked Update Range: Start of the Current Event. This will ONLY pull through data with a start time that occurred prior to the start time of the Event that is pulling in linked data into it.

For example if a Training Session is entered at 5:00 am AND the Training Session Review is ALSO entered at 5:00 am, NO linked data will pull through from the Training Session form as the cut off is 5:00 am (the start of the current event)!

N.B. If the start time of the Training Sessions Review form was changed to 5:30 am, then the linked data WOULD pull through from the 5:00 am Training Sessions form (as it occurred prior to the start of the current 5:30 am entry.)

Multiple entries can be entered throughout the day. The cut offs work according to when the data was entered.

The example here shows data for a 10:45 am time. Pay close attention to which data is linked into the Training Sessions Review entry; the fields in the end of current event section pull in the 10:45 am entry, BUT the fields in the start of current event section pull in the 5:00 am data (because it was data entered prior to 10:45 am).

The example here shows data for a 9:30 pm time. Pay close attention to which data is linked into the Training Sessions Review entry; the fields in the end of current event section pull in the 9:30 am entry, BUT the fields in the start of current event section pull in the 10:45 am data (because it was data entered prior to 9:30 pm).

The new two new event update ranges enable data to be entered out of sequence, but to still pull in the correct information (note, this has been a significant limitation as the default used to only be set to end of current day).

Note that in the last section of the Training Sessions Review form the data is set to pull in data up until the end of the current day. As data was entered at 9:30pm the 9:30 pm data is pulled into the 12:30 entry. This was previously a hindrance for athletes entering in data out or order on the day of training.

The data should also sort in sequential order on the athlete history page as well.

Please ensure you completely understand how to use the update ranges prior to changing your linked fields. In some instance you may want to retain and end or start or current day, and in others you may want to use the start or end of current event.
