Important iPad and iPhone Enhancement: Set Sections to appear together and not as a separate section on the iPad/iPhone App
Previously, each section in an Event Form appeared in a New Page on the Mobile applications (as shown here).
Previously, each section in an Event Form appeared in a new page on the Mobile App when you entered/reviewed data. If you had 20 sections in a form, you had to navigate through 20 pages by clicking on the "Next" button. Now you can set whether the sections should appear as separate page (like they currently do) or whether you want to combine multiple sections.
Each Section (and the fields in that section) can now be set to NOT appear as a separate page on the Mobile App, but instead will appear combined with other section's fields.
Each section can now be set not to appear as a separate page (section) on the Mobile App.
In each Section's Advanced Properties there is a new Mobile Page Break setting.
To set a section's fields to "run together" (without a break), and appear on the same page on the Mobile App, you will need to open the Section's Advanced Properties.
A new Mobile Page Break Setting has been added:
-By default it is set to Yes so that each section appears separately. This is set up to prevent large forms from performing poorly on the mobile App.
-Set this to No for any sections that you want the fields to combine and to not appear as separate pages on the Mobile App
N.B. This does NOT affect the way the Event Forms work on the online, or the installed versions of the software. It ONLY applies to the Mobile version.
If you have 10 sections in a Form and you have section 1- 4 set as No Mobile Page Break, Section 5 as Yes and Section 6-10 as No, the Event Form will appear as two Pages on the App
Sections 1 to 4 are set to Mobile Page Break = Yes. This means the fields from these sections will appear in one page on the Mobile App
Section 5 is set to Mobile Page Break = No. This means this section will appear on a separate page on the Mobile App
Section 6 to 10 are set to Mobile Page Break = No. This means they will Not appear in a separate page, they will appear with a previous section (e.g. section 5).
The images in the two steps below outline how this would work on the Mobile App.
On the Mobile application the example here shows that when you enter in data for the Event Form above, the fields from section 1 to 4 appear together
When the sections are set not to show as a separate page, the fields from all of the sections set to "No" are combined together (as shown here).
You can see that the section headings do not appear for section 2,3 or 4.
Because section 5 was set to have a break, it appears in a separate page (as shown in the image in the step below).
Section 5 appears on a separate page and all of the Section 6 to 10 fields appear with it because they were set to Mobile Page Break "No"
WARNING: If you set up the fields in a section to appear in the previous section NO section visibility setting will work for those fields
This section is set to appear if the field "Section 2" is greater than or equal to 2. When data is entered on the iPad or main application this section will not appear if the answer is greater than or equal to 2.
However, if the section settings for Mobile Page Break = No, then the fields in this section are essentially set to appear with the fields from a previous section. The section visibility will not work (see the next lesson on workarounds for section visibility) as any fields will appear with the previous section.
Remember that Tables, In Form Reports and In Form Charts will still appear in a separate Page due to the way you enter/review data for these fields on the Mobile version
